Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Rodriguez has received a one-year suspension for violating the league's gambling policy, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.
The investigation determined that Rodriguez bet a total of $749.09 on baseball during a time he was assigned to the White Sox's Double-A affiliate in Birmingham. He didn't appear in any of the games on which he wagered, and MLB determined the outcomes of the contests weren't compromised in any fashion. Rodriguez was traded to the Phillies in April and has played exclusively at Double-A Reading this season, slashing .265/.329/.422 over 164 plate appearances.
