German will start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Hannah Mears of SportsNet Pittsburgh reports.
German has given up two runs over six innings while working out of the Pirates' bullpen as a multi-inning reliever, and Wednesday will mark his first time starting a big-league game this season. The 32-year-old righty posted a 5.29 ERA over 68 innings while working as a starter at Triple-A Indianapolis, though he'll have the advantage of facing a Rangers offense that ranks 23rd in the majors in OPS (.686).
