Pirates' Edward Florentino: Bumped to High-A
Florentino (ankle) is being promoted to High-A Greensboro, Bucco Bantr reports.
Florentino had technically been on a rehab assignment at Single-A, despite the fact he has never played above that level. The 19-year-old lefty hitter slashed .321/.500/.750 with three home runs, 11 walks and seven strikeouts in nine games at Single-A after returning from an ankle injury.

Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Knocks in two
Reynolds went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, one run scored and one walk Thursday against the Cardinals.
Reynolds doubled in consecutive plate appearances in the fourth and fifth innings to account for his production. He now has multiple hits in two of his last three starts, but he is still hitting only .200 with four RBI and six runs scored with no home runs across his last 10 starts. Overall, Reynolds is hitting only .246 with a .132 ISO across 142 plate appearances to begin the campaign.

Pirates' Brandon Lowe: Slugs eighth homer
Lowe went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday against the Cardinals.
Lowe briefly pulled the Pirates to within one run in the seventh inning with his eighth home run of the season. That marked his first long ball since April 14, a span of 11 starts. After a hot start to the season, Lowe is hitting only .235 with one home run, five RBI and five runs scored across his last 12 games.

Pirates' Paul Skenes: Ambushed in second loss
Skenes (4-2) took the loss Thursday against the Cardinals, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out nine.
The Cardinals jumped all over the All-Star right-hander right away, bringing three runs across in the opening frame. One run against Skenes on Thursday went unearned due to a Pittsburgh throwing error, and the hurler was at least able to pitch deep enough into the outing to fan a season-high nine and reach the 100-pitch plateau for the first time this year. Skenes will carry a strong 3.18 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 39:7 K:BB over 34 innings into his next start, which is projected to come in Arizona.

Pirates' Marcell Ozuna: Absent from lineup
Ozuna is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Cardinals.
Ozuna is slumping again after a brief hot streak, having gone just 3-for-30 with a 1:11 BB:K over his last nine games. As a result, he has now been absent from the lineup three times in the last six contests. Ryan O'Hearn will get a start at designated hitter Thursday.

Pirates' Jared Jones: Big velocity in first rehab start
Jones (elbow) struck out five over three perfect innings in his first rehab start with Single-A Bradenton on Wednesday.
Jones overwhelmed the A-ball hitters, regularly reaching 100 mph and hitting 101.1 mph on his final pitch of the first inning, per Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The right-hander required only 41 pitches as he cruised through his three frames. It's a very encouraging first rehab outing for Jones, who is coming back from internal brace surgery that he had last May. Jones is on the 60-day injured list and thus not eligible for activation until late May, so he will continue to deliberately build up stamina before rejoining the Pirates' rotation in a few weeks.

Pirates' Bubba Chandler: Struggles with control in loss
Chandler (1-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Cardinals, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out six.
Although Chandler gave up only three hits and tied a season high in punchouts, each knock went for extra bases Wednesday. Control remained an issue as well for the hard-throwing right-hander, who issued multiple walks for the fifth time in six starts this season. Chandler has a disappointing 4.97 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 27:20 K:BB over 29 innings, and he'll be looking for better command in his next scheduled outing in Arizona.

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Shifts rehab to Double-A
Triolo (knee) went 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and an additional run Tuesday in a rehab game with Double-A Altoona.
Triolo has moved his minor-league assignment to Altoona this week after appearing in a pair of games last week for Single-A Bradenton. The 28-year-old logged nine innings at third base Tuesday, but the Pirates may want to see him play full games on back-to-back days before bringing him back from the injured list. Once Triolo is activated, he could reclaim the primary role at third base from Nick Gonzales.

Pirates' Henry Davis: Exiting starting nine
Davis is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Cardinals.
Davis will get a day off after starting at catcher in the first two games of the series. Joey Bart will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Pirates.

Pirates' Ryan Harbin: Removed from 40-man roster
The Pirates designated Harbin (lat) for assignment Wednesday.
The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Chris Devenski, who was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis. Harbin was placed on Indianapolis' 60-day injured list earlier this month due to a right lat strain and it's unclear when he might be ready to pitch again. The injury could affect his appeal on waivers.

Pirates' Hunter Barco: Sent back to minors
The Pirates optioned Barco to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Barco threw 84 pitches while allowing five runs over 4.2 innings in an extended relief outing in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals. The left-hander will likely rejoin the rotation at Indianapolis.

Pirates' Chris Devenski: Added to roster
The Pirates selected Devenski's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Devenski earned a call-up after posting a 2.16 ERA and 14:5 K:BB over 16.2 frames with Indianapolis. The veteran right-hander will provide some length in the Pittsburgh bullpen.

Pirates' Konnor Griffin: Belts second major-league homer
Griffin went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during the Pirates' 11-7 loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday.
The Pirates were down 11-6 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but Griffin made the score a little bit more respectable with a solo homer to right-center field. He is up to two homers on the season, both of which have come over his last five games. The 20-year-old rookie is slashing .226/.283/.345 with six steals, 13 RBI and nine runs scored over 92 plate appearances this season.

Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Smacks two-run homer
O'Hearn went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, an RBI single and an additional run scored during Pittsburgh's 11-7 loss to St. Louis on Tuesday.
O'Hearn reduced the Pirates' deficit to 6-3 in the sixth inning after smacking a two-run homer off Kyle Leahy, and the former added another RBI on a single in the eighth. It was O'Hearn's fifth multi-RBI game of the season and his most in a game since April 5 against the Orioles (five). He is slashing .316/.405/.510 with one steal, five home runs and 19 RBI over 116 plate appearances this season, and O'Hearn's on-base percentage is third-best in the National League behind Xavier Edwards (.437) and Ivan Herrera (.414).
