Crowe (shoulder) advanced to throwing live batting practice Thursday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Crowe is currently working out at the Pirates' spring training complex in Florida and could be cleared to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment within the next week. He's been on the shelf since late April due to right shoulder trouble.
