Hamels (oblique) played catch Tuesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Although he's likely still out until the All-Star break, the fact that Hamels has started to throw again is a positive sign of progress. According to Wilson, Rangers pitching coach Doug Brocail was impressed with the zip Hamels was getting on his tosses Tuesday. The next step of Hamels' rehab process will likely be decided after the club sees how his oblique responds to the increased activity in the coming days.
