The Rangers designated Evans for assignment Sunday.
The transaction reopens a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Glenn Otto (illness), who was reinstated from the COVID-19-related injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Nationals. Evans has pitched exclusively for Triple-A Round Rock this season, logging a 7.50 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 17:14 K:BB across 12 innings out of the bullpen.
