Rangers' Tyler Mahle: Set for team debut Tuesday
The Rangers will reinstate Mahle (elbow) from the 60-day injured list and have him start Tuesday's game against the Astros in Arlington, Bally Sports Southwest reports.
The transaction will be made official later Tuesday, when the Rangers will also announce a corresponding 40-man roster move. After completing his recovery from May 2023 Tommy John surgery, Mahle will be making his Rangers and season debuts Tuesday. The right-hander gradually got stretched out over the course of six rehab starts, most recently tossing 4.2 innings and 74 pitches this past Wednesday with Triple-A Round Rock. The return of Mahle should bolster the back end of a Texas rotation that's currently down three of its top contributors in Jacob deGrom (elbow), Max Scherzer (shoulder) and Jon Gray (groin).
