Holland will head to Triple-A Worcester rather than exercise his right to opt out, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Holland was allowed to head to the open market in search of a big-league opportunity elsewhere, but he'll instead remain as organizational depth for the Red Sox. The 35-year-old lefty may not have had any major-league offers had he elected free agency, as he owns a 5.98 ERA over the last three seasons.
