The Red Sox recalled Valdez from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
The 25-year-old is back in the big leagues as Tyler O'Neill (illness/leg) lands on the injured list. Boston's infield is currently in good health, so Valdez is unlikely to see much action while in the majors.
