Eovaldi allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven in five innings during Friday's loss to the Yankees. He didn't factor into the decision.
Boston's offense provided Eovaldi with a three-run lead in the top of the first inning Friday, but he gave up a two-run blast in the bottom half of the frame before Giancarlo Stanton tied the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth. Although the right-hander was forced to settle for a no-decision, he had strong strikeout numbers while reaching 76 pitches in the Red Sox opener. Eovaldi tentatively lines up to start Wednesday's road matchup against the Tigers.
