Gonzalez entered Monday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in a 14-7 win over Seattle.
The Red Sox were cruising in the middle innings when manager Alex Cora decided to give Rafael Devers a break, sending up Gonzalez to hit. The pinch hitter belted a two-run home run and then finished off the game at third base. Gonzalez has hit well since the All-Star break, going 10-for-29 (.345) with five extra-base hits, two steals and five runs scored. He's typically in the lineup against left-handers, getting starts at first base or moving about the infield.
