The Red Sox reinstated Contreras from the 10-day injured list, and he's starting at first base Sunday against the Royals, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The veteran slugger is ready to rejoin the Red Sox after going 2-for-7 with two RBI and three strikeouts during a two-game rehab assignment. Contreras landed on the shelf due to a left hamstring strain Aug. 31, but he ended up missing little more than the 10-day minimum.
