Reds manager Terry Francona said Monday that Toglia will undergo surgery to repair a dislocated right shoulder, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Toglia dislocated his shoulder while making a diving catch during Friday's win over the Diamondbacks, and after tests and consultations, surgery has been determined to be the best option for the 28-year-old. If the procedure is season-ending, then Toglia will end the year having gone 3-for-26 (.115) with an RBI and two doubles across 10 major-league games, along with a .920 OPS with four steals, 22 home runs and 65 RBI over 402 plate appearances with Triple-A Louisville.
