Colorado designated Julien for assignment on Tuesday.
With Julien having lost out on playing time since the All-Star break, the Rockies decided to DFA the 27-year-old. Over 276 plate appearances on the campaign, Julien slashed .208/.322/.292 with three home runs, five steals, 20 RBI and 37 runs. The Rockies recalled Zac Veen from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.
