Freeland (4-7) took the loss Tuesday as the Rockies fell 3-0 to Atlanta, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits over five innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

It was a sharp performance from the left-hander, who tossed 55 of 79 pitches for strikes, but he had the misfortune of being matched up with NL Cy Young favorite Chris Sale. Freeland has allowed three runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts, posting a 4.03 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 30:9 K:BB through 38 innings over that stretch. He'll look for a better result in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Milwaukee.
