Daza was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Friday.
This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for catcher Austin Wynns, who was claimed off waivers from the Dodgers on Thursday and will become the Rockies' new backup catcher beginning Friday. Daza can cover all three outfield spots, but the 29-year-old holds a career .683 OPS at the MLB level. He's hit only four home runs across 924 total big-league plate appearances.
