Tinoco signed a minor-league contract with the Royals on Tuesday.
Tinoco elected to become a free agent after the Rangers designated him for assignment las week. He allowed nine earned runs in 10 innings with the Rangers prior to being cast off the 40-man roster. In his new organization, Tinoco will report to Triple-A Omaha.
