Loftin will start at third base and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Though he looked poised to move back into a utility role after the Royals reinstated Vinnie Pasquantino and Maikel Garcia from the injured list Monday, Loftin has since settled back into a near-everyday role after Garcia went back on the shelf Friday due to a hamstring strain. Loftin will collect his sixth straight start Sunday after going 2-for-14 with a double, a triple, four walks and an RBI over the previous five contests.
