McGonigle underwent surgery Aug. 15 to repair a hamate bone fracture in his right hand, MLB.com reports.
The Tigers haven't provided a timeline for McGonigle's return, but with High-A West Michigan's season ending Sept. 8, the 20-year-old infielder is most likely done for 2024. The 37th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, McGonigle finished his first full professional season with a .309/.401/.452 slash line to go with five home runs and 22 stolen bases over 328 plate appearances between stops with West Michigan and Single-A Lakeland.
