McGonigle snapped a mini 0-for-12 slump with his second multi-hit performance in five games this month. After an 0-for-4 effort Saturday, McGonigle bounced back with a good game Sunday to wrap up the weekend series. The 21-year-old infielder is now batting .270 with a .776 OPS this month as he continues to display tremendous consistency for a young player. Overall, McGonigle is sporting a .281/.387/.418 slash line across 102 games, and he's in a great position to earn AL Rookie of the Year honors.

Like he did throughout the first half of the season, McGonigle served as an effective offensive catalyst for the Tigers. McGonigle also has 60 walks versus only 59 strikeouts through 95 games, and his good eye at the plate along with his strong contact skills should make the 21-year-old a fairly reliable fantasy option the rest of the way.

It wasn't McGonigle's best performance overall, but he still managed to make an impact with his eighth home run of the season. McGonigle is carrying positive vibes into his first All-Star Game appearance next week.

McGonigle went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in Monday's 7-3 win over the Yankees.
McGonigle now has at least one hit in 19 of the 24 games he's played this month, and he's batting .281 overall in June, which is right in line with his .284 average for the season. The rookie has been incredibly consistent and productive thus far, and while he did strike out twice Monday, he has only 50 of them across 306 at-bats in 82 contests. The Tigers also batted McGonigle third Monday for just the fifth time this year after he's mostly served as the leadoff man, at least recently. A more permanent move down a few spots in the order could allow the youngster to tally more RBI, though it may slightly decrease how often he comes around to score.
