Montgomery (2-4) allowed three runs -- one earned -- on eight hits and a walk while striking out five batters over 4.1 innings during Monday's loss to Baltimore.

This wasn't Montgomery's best effort, but he was also a little unlucky, with two of the runs he allowed following a Starlin Castro error. The rookie lefty has posted a respectable 4.11 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 8.6 K/9, and his 3.59 FIP indicates there could be smoother sailing ahead. It isn't out of the question to be selective with his opponents going forward, and it's probably wise to expect more peaks and valleys during his freshman campaign. Still, he's flashing nice fantasy upside. Montgomery lines up to face the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in his next start.
