Rogers signed a one -year, $1.9 million guaranteed contract with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization. It was expected that Rogers would follow former Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario to the KBO, and he did so for a much bigger paycheck than he would've received in the United States for his services. The 30-year-old had a 6.27 ERA out of the Yankee bullpen last season, but he'll try to boost his stock in Korea and possibly garner higher demand in the U.S. in the future.

The purging Yankees have released pitcher Esmil Rogers to allow him to sign with a Korean team. Rogers, who was sent to Triple-A on July 1, compiled a 6.27 ERA in 18 relief appearances for the Yankees this season before his demotion.

The Yankees have recalled outfielder Taylor Dugas from Double-A Trenton, the team announced on Wednesday. Dugas is with the team as outfield insurance in case Carlos Beltran is forced to miss significant time with a rib cage injury. Dugas was an eighth-round draft pick by the Yankees in 2012. He has been splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A this season. Overall, he owns a poor .198/.316/.235 batting line/ In a corresponding move, the Yankees outrighted right-hander Esmil Rogers to Triple-A Scranton.

The Yankees sent second baseman Gregorio Petit down to the minor leagues Sunday, the team announed. Petit is hitting .184 with five RBI in 18 games this season. With Petit moving down, the team will promote pitcher Esmil Rogers. Rogers has a 6.27 ERA over 33 innings this season.
