Solano went 4-for-5 with three doubles and a run in Saturday's 8-0 win against the Giants. Solano batted out of the No. 8 hole and gave the Padres plenty of run-scoring opportunities with his trio of two-baggers, though he was knocked in just once. The veteran infielder has started at first base in three of San Diego's past four contests and appears set to see plenty of playing time at that position with Jake Cronenworth playing second base and Xander Bogaerts shifting to shortstop while Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder) continues to miss time. Solano has earned the uptick in opportunities by slashing .312/.361/.468 over 32 games since the All-Star break.

Solano went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Twins. Solano entered as a pinch hitter for Jurickson Profar in the fifth inning after the Twins built a 10-0 lead and homered to put the Padres on the board. He's been effective in a reserve role for San Diego this season, slashing .309/.360/.440 with six home runs, 28 RBI, 25 runs and a stolen base over 225 plate appearances.

Solano went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 7-6 loss to Miami. Pinch hitting for Jake Cronenworth with one out in the eighth inning, Solano came up clutch and launched a two-run homer off Andrew Nardi to bring the Padres within one run. The long ball was Solano's fifth of the year -- a milestone he had reached just twice in his first 10 MLB seasons. In 212 plate appearances, Solano is slashing .313/.363/.436.

The veteran infielder is unlikely to overtake Jake Cronenworth, Luis Arraez, Xander Bogaerts or Manny Machado for a starting role, though he's proven to be a useful piece off the bench and against left-handed pitching. Overall, Solano's slashing .314/.366/.427 with four homers, 25 RBI, 21 runs scored and a stolen base through 202 plate appearances this season.
