Vogt went 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo home run Wednesday against the Angels. Vogt led off the seventh inning with a home run, his seventh of the season. It was a nice moment to conclude Vogt's career, as he's set to retire after racking up 2,598 plate appearances across 10 seasons. He ended his final campaign with a .161/.241/.321 line to go along with 18 runs scored and 23 RBI.

Vogt went 1-for-4 with a three-run triple and a run in a loss to the Mariners on Thursday. The veteran, who'd just announced he'll be retiring at the end of the season, promptly delivered his first triple of the season with the bases loaded in the third inning to erase a 3-0 deficit. Vogt's timely three-bagger snapped an 0-for-14 slump that had encompassed his previous seven games, and it afforded him his first RBI since Sept. 10.

Vogt announced Thursday he will retire at the end of the 2022 season. The 37-year-old catcher, who has started seeing more time at first base and designated hitter, has logged over eight full years of MLB service time across 10 total seasons. Vogt has a career .239/.302/.406 slash line with 81 home runs and a 3.4 fWAR over 785 games. It is fitting that he is currently a member of the A's, as that's where he played for roughly half his career, including his peak seasons in 2014 and 2015. He was known for being an excellent clubhouse presence and being great at working with younger players, so perhaps he will have a future in player development.

Vogt isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Houston. Vogt will be on the bench for the third time in the last four games. The 37-year-old has seen most of his action at DH lately, but he's batting just .150 (3-for-20) in September.

Vogt isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers. Although right-hander Dane Dunning is on the mound for Texas on Wednesday, Vogt will sit for a second consecutive game. Dermis Garcia is starting at first base and batting sixth.
