  • Trevor May: Calls end to career
    By RotoWire

May announced Monday during a stream on his personal Twitch account that he has retired from professional baseball, SNY.tv reports. May, who turned 34 years old in September, still appeared to have something left in the tank after recording 21 saves while pitching to a 3.28 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 46.2 innings with Oakland in 2023, but he'll choose to walk away from the game rather than pursuing a short-term deal with the Athletics or another club in free agency. Over parts of nine seasons in the majors with the Twins, Mets and Athletics, May notched 36 wins, 33 saves and 67 holds and accrued a 4.24 ERA across 450.1 career innings.

    By RotoWire

May picked up the save Thursday against Minnesota, striking out one over a perfect inning. May was called upon in the bottom of the ninth to protect a one-run lead and didn't disappoint, retiring the side in order to record his 21st save of the season. The right-handed reliever has now converted his last 11 save opportunities and hasn't allowed a run since Aug. 13. Thursday also marked his fifth appearance this month in which he didn't allow any hits.

  • Athletics' Trevor May: Records 20th save
    By RotoWire

May recorded his 20th save in the Athletics' win over the Tigers on Saturday, allowing a hit and a walk over 1.1 innings. He struck out three. May turned in another impressive late-game performance while generating his 13th straight scoreless outing overall. The veteran right-hander's multi-inning appearance was his first such outing since Aug. 5, when he'd earned a win while logging 1.2 frames against the Giants. May has registered a save in eight of his last 11 trips to the mound as well and has worked his ERA down to 3.43 with his current strong stretch of pitching, his lowest figure in that category since after his first appearance of the season back on April 4.

  • Athletics' Trevor May: Locks down 18th save
    By RotoWire

May recorded his 18th save in the Athletics' win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing one hit during a scoreless ninth inning. May made relatively quick work of the pinch-hitting Spencer Horwitz and Daulton Varsho after allowing a leadoff single to Santiago Espinal, throwing 11 of his 15 pitches for strikes along the way. The veteran right-hander has a win and six saves in his last seven appearances, and he's lowered his ERA from 4.78 to 3.89 since an Aug. 13 stumble against the Nationals, when he allowed five runs (three earned) over just two-thirds of an inning.
