Martinez was placed on the 7-day minor-league disabled list Tuesday, Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register reports. Martinez (head) was reassigned to minor league camp Saturday. Martinez is also recovering from getting hit in the head by a liner in a Grapefruit League game earlier this week.

Martinez left Sunday's Grapefruit League game after taking an elbow to the head while in the field, MASN Sports reports. Martinez stayed down for a while before walking off under his own power. This has signs of being a concussion and we should no more within the next day or so. Martinez was trying to make the team as a non-roster invitee, but he was likely destined to begin the season at Double-A or Triple-A.

Martinez will attend Orioles' spring training as a non-roster invitee, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports. The 27-year-old Puerto Rican has played 942 games at the minor league level but only 34 in the big leagues. In 2015 with Double-A Bowie, he hit .252 with 48 runs and 30 RBI in 477 plate appearances. The journeyman will have a difficult time finding playing time given his limited production in the MLB, even if he receives a roster spot.
