Inciarte elected free agency Monday after the Mets outrighted him to Triple-A Syracuse. Since Inciarte has more than six years of MLB service time, he was able to refuse the assignment to Syracuse after clearing waivers over the weekend. The 31-year-old will look to catch on with another organization as outfield depth.

The Mets outrighted Inciarte to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. After clearing waivers upon being designated for assignment Thursday, Inciarte looks as though he'll stick around in the Mets organization for the time being. During his two-and-a-half-week stint in the big leagues, Inciarte appeared in 11 games and went 1-for-8 with a run scored.

Inciarte was designated for assignment by the Mets on Thursday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Inciarte joined the major-league roster in late June but drew just one start during his time with the Mets. The 31-year-old went 1-for-8 with a run over 11 games in the majors and will lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Jeff McNeil (personal) was reinstated from the paternity list Thursday.

The Mets selected Inciarte's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. To create room for Inciarte on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster, the Mets designated left-hander Locke St. John for assignment and optioned outfielder Nick Plummer to Triple-A. Inciarte will effectively replace Plummer as the Mets' fourth outfielder, but he shouldn't be expected to receive much playing time while all of Mark Canha, Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte are healthy and available.

Inciarte agreed Monday with the Mets on a minor-league contract, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports. After being cut by the Yankees last week, Inciarte will continue his career with New York's other organization. The three-time Gold Glove Award winner is still capable of providing value on the defensive end, but his anemic bat was the primary reason Atlanta chose to release him last July. Inciarte hasn't appeared in the big leagues since and was let go by the Yankees after producing a .252/.336/.408 slash line over 116 plate appearances at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
