The Mariners reassigned Hembree to minor-league camp Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Hembree threw a perfect inning during his lone appearance of the spring, but his chances to make the team were always slim. The 35-year-old righty will head to Triple-A Tacoma to provide the Mariners with organizational depth in the bullpen.

Hembree signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Friday. Hembree turned in 1.1 scoreless frames during his lone major-league appearance last season, and he gave up three runs in 13 innings between the Tigers' and Rays' Triple-A affiliates. The 35-year-old righty will report to Triple-A Tacoma and offer the Mariners organizational bullpen depth.

Hembree (forearm) was released by the Tigers on Sunday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. The right-hander was cut loose by the Red Sox in late April and quickly latched on with the Tigers via a minor-league deal, but he made just six appearances before going down with a forearm injury. Hembree was activated from the injured list by Triple-A Toledo on Friday but will now depart the organization.

Hembree signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Monday. After electing to become a free agent last week when Tampa Bay moved him off its 40-man roster, Hembree has quickly caught on with a new organization. Though Hembree is initially expected to report to Triple-A Toledo, he should have a clearer path to capturing a more permanent spot in Detroit's big-league bullpen than he did with the American League East-leading Rays, who had several promising relief arms in the majors and higher levels of the minors. Hembree had posted a 1.29 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in seven innings with Triple-A Durham this season and tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in his lone relief appearance with the Rays prior to being designated for assignment.

Hembree cleared outright waivers and elected for free agency Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Hembree made one scoreless appearance for the Rays before being removed from their 40-man roster. He'll now look to latch on with another organization.
