The Marlins reassigned Givens to minor-league camp Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Givens didn't sign until mid-March, so he had an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster. The veteran reliever could still see lots of action in the Marlins' bullpen this season, but he'll head to Triple-A Jacksonville for now to knock some rust off.

Signed as a non-roster invitee over the weekend, Givens is ramping things up in a hurry in hopes of convincing the Marlins to carry him on their Opening Day roster. The veteran reliever was limited to just six appearances last season because of shoulder issues but appears to be healthy now.

Givens signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Sunday that includes an invite to big-league camp, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. The right-hander endured a rough campaign with Baltimore last season as he made just six appearances due to a shoulder injury before being released in August. Givens had a 3.38 ERA in 59 outings for the Cubs and Mets in 2022 and would provide the Marlins some veteran bullpen depth if he can earn a roster spot and get back to that form.

Givens was released by the Orioles on Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Givens was reinstated from the 60-day injured list last weekend after a lengthy shoulder injury but was designated for assignment rather than brought back onto the active roster. The 33-year-old went unclaimed on waivers but will hope to land somewhere for the stretch run, perhaps on a minor-league deal.

The Orioles reinstated Givens from the 60-day injured list Sunday and designated him for assignment, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. Givens struggled during his brief time with the Orioles this season, surrendering five runs in four innings before landing on the injured list with a shoulder injury in early June. After a lengthy recovery, Givens threw three scoreless innings with Triple-A Norfolk during his rehab assignment and could remain there for the foreseeable future if he goes unclaimed off waivers.
