Keuchel signed a contract with the Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball on July 30, The Mainichi reports. Keuchel has made two starts already for the Marines, most recently tossing seven shutout innings in his last outing Aug. 23. The veteran left-hander pitched in the majors with the Brewers earlier this season, posting a 5.40 ERA and 11:8 K:BB over 16.2 frames in four starts. Keuchel is now 36 and is unlikely to be an impact player in the majors again, but he's not ready to call it a career just yet.

Keuchel elected free agency Wednesday after clearing waivers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The Brewers had designated the veteran left-hander for assignment Sunday after he posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB in 16.2 innings across four starts. Keuchel will explore his options on the market but might have to settle for a minor-league contract.

The Brewers designated Keuchel for assignment Sunday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Keuchel's run with Milwaukee ends after just four starts, over which he compiled a 5.40 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB in 16.2 innings. The 36-year-old southpaw will most likely clear waivers, though it's unclear if he'll be willing to report to the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate in Nashville thereafter, as he could prefer to elect free agency and explore his options on the open market. The Brewers won't need another No. 5 starter to replace Keuchel until July 24, at which time Joe Ross (back) might be ready to return from the 60-day injured list.

Keuchel didn't factor in the decision Saturday against Washinton after he allowed three runs on eight hits and no walks over three-plus innings. He struck out two. The 36-year-old held the Nationals scoreless through three frames, but he was pulled in the fourth after giving up five straight hits to begin the inning. It was the shortest of Keuchel's three starts since joining the Brewers, and he's completed five frames in just one of those outings. The left-hander could retain his rotation spot coming out of the All-Star break, though he may not have much job security with a 5.40 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB across 16.2 innings, especially with Joe Ross (back) nearing a return from the injured list.

Keuchel didn't factor in the decision for Tuesday's 4-3 win at Colorado after he allowed two runs on four hits and two walks across 5.1 innings. He struck out five. The veteran left-hander struggled in the second inning as he surrendered two runs on a homer, a triple and a sacrifice fly, but he otherwise kept the Rockies off the board. It was a nice rebound for Keuchel in a hitter-friendly park after he gave up five earned runs in his Brewers debut last week. He tentatively lines up for another tough matchup this weekend on the road versus the Dodgers.
