  Ramirez batted second and went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's spring game against the Mariners. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said Friday he's leaning toward having Ramirez hit second in the 2025 regular season. He's mostly batted third during his career, but Ramirez has hit second in six of 11 Cactus League starts. He's batting .389 (7-for-18) out of the second spot in the order this spring compared to .154 (2-for-13) when batting third.

  Guardians manager Stephen Vogt indicated Friday that he's leaning toward batting Ramirez second this season, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Ramirez has spent the overwhelming majority of his career batting third, including in 2024 when 152 of his 158 starts were from the three hole. However, Vogt likes the idea of Ramirez hitting second, as it offers his best hitter more plate appearances and more RBI opportunities. It's not yet clear who would bat third for the Guardians in that scenario, but Kyle Manzardo, Carlos Santana and Lane Thomas have all been used in that spot of late during spring training.

Ramirez took Justin Verlander deep in the first inning, and he's now one homer away from a 40-40 season. Ramirez fell just a single shy of the cycle and broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning with a three-run blast off Emilio Pagan. Over his past 10 games, the third baseman has gone deep three times while tallying six multi-hit efforts. He trails his single-season homer total of 39 by one while hitting .279 with 115 RBI and career highs in runs (113) and steals (40) across 674 plate appearances.

  Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double Saturday in a loss to the Cardinals. Ramirez helped Cleveland mount a late rally, belting a three-run shot to left field in the eighth inning to reduce a five-run deficit to just two runs. The star third baseman has homered in each of his past two games and has gone 5-for-8 with five RBI during the pair of contests. Ramirez's long ball Saturday was his 37th of the season, bring him to within two of the career-best mark of 39 that he established in 2018.
