  • Candelario (toe) is unlikely to return and finish the season, MLB.com reports. Candelario, who was hit by a pitch during a game Aug. 18, landed on the injured list a couple of days later and has yet to resume baseball activities. Cincinnati manager David Bell said Saturday that it looks like Candelario will not be back this season, adding there is still pain in the toe. If that's it for Candelario, he'll finish his first season as a member of the Reds with 20 home runs, 56 RBI, four steals, 47 runs scored and a line of .225/.279/.429 over 112 games.

  • Candelario (toe) has yet to resume baseball activities, MLB.com reports. Candelario is almost three weeks removed from suffering a fractured left great toe and remains limited to rehabilitation work due to lingering discomfort. It shouldn't take long for him to become game-ready once the soreness subsides, but it's not clear when/if that might happen before the end of the season.

  • Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that Candelario is still feeling pain in his fractured left great toe, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. It's not a surprise to hear considering he's just a week removed from landing on the 10-day injured list, but it emphasizes that Candelario is not close to a return. The Reds presumably won't allow him to resume baseball activities until he's pain-free, and after that he'll need a little time to get ramped back up.

  • The Reds placed Candelario on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured left great toe. Candelario played the duration of Monday's win over the Blue Jays, so it's not clear when he suffered the injury. It's also uncertain at this juncture how long he might be sidelined. Candelario has seen most of his playing time lately at designated hitter and first base. His absence could create more opportunities for Ty France, Jake Fraley and Will Benson, as well as new waiver claim Amed Rosario, who is taking Candelario's roster spot.

  • Candelario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Royals on Saturday. The Reds were thoroughly dominated in the contest, but Candelario at least prevented the team from being shut out with his seventh-inning solo blast. It was the infielder's 20th long ball of the campaign, marking the second straight season that he's reached that total. Though Candelario has experienced a drop in his batting average this season from .251 to .226, he's on pace to surpass last year's career-high marks of 22 long balls and 70 RBI.
