Gonzalez was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Wednesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for the official arrival of Matt Moore, who was claimed off waivers from the Guardians on Tuesday. Gonzalez, now twice DFA'd by Miami, has allowed three earned runs on seven hits and one walk over just 3.2 major-league innings this season.

The Marlins selected Gonzalez's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. The 31-year-old was outrighted to Triple-A by Miami in mid-May but will rejoin the major-league roster despite posting a 6.65 ERA for Jacksonville since being demoted. Gonzelez worked as a starter at Triple-A and should be a long-relief option for the Marlins.
