Altherr signed a contract with the NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball Organization on Friday, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports. Altherr appeared in 49 major-league games between the Phillies, Giants and Mets in 2019, but he went 5-for-61 with 25 strikeouts in those 49 games. The 28-year-old posted a .856 OPS with 19 home runs in 412 plate appearances with Philadelphia in 2017, so he's a good rebound candidate in the more hitter-friendly KBO.

Altherr cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports. Altherr was designated for assignment by the Mets over the weekend and will remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 28-year-old has struggled in 49 major-league games this season, going 5-for-61 with 25 strikeouts.

Altherr was designated for assignment Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Altherr had struggled since joining the Mets on July 27, hitting just .129/.200/.258 across 35 plate appearances. Jeff McNeil (hamstring) was activated from the injured list Saturday and will take Altherr's spot on the active roster.

Altherr had his contract purchased from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. Altherr is back with the Mets to replace the injured Dominic Smith (foot), who was placed on the injured list Saturday. The 28-year-old Altherr is slashing just .050/.095/.150 in 29 games (42 plate appearances) this season, so he'll likely be limited to a bench role during his time with the big club.

Altherr was sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Jacob Resnick of Mets Minors reports. Altherr was designated for assignment Wednesday, though given his service time, he can elect free agency should he choose to decline a minor-league assignment.
