    Reyes has re-signed with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball, Yakyu Cosmopolitan reports. Reyes has spent the past two seasons with the Fighters, slashing .282/.347/.535 with 57 home runs across 899 plate appearances. The 30-year-old had a pair of 30-homer seasons in the big leagues, but he slashed just .217/.268/.356 with a 33.6 percent strikeout rate from 2022-to-2023 before heading overseas.

  • Franmil Reyes: Staying in NPB

    The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball have re-signed Reyes to a one-year contract, agent Edwin Dominguez Alvarez reports. Reyes slashed .290/.348/.564 with 25 homers over 368 plate appearances with the Fighters this season. The 29-year-old could attempt to return to a major-league organization eventually but will remain in Japan for at least one more year.

Reyes had a promising start to his major-league career but crashed and burned the last two seasons, posting a .624 OPS with a 33.6 percent strikeout rate over 137 games. He's still just 28 and will get a chance to get things back on track overseas.

    The Nationals reinstated Reyes (undisclosed) from the injured list Friday and released him, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. Reyes hadn't played in a game with Triple-A Rochester since early July, and he'll now attempt to latch on with his third organization of the season. The 28-year-old is slashing just .217/.317/.392 across 167 plate appearances in Triple-A this season, but there's a decent chance he gets a minor-league contract from another team.

  • Reyes signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Thursday, Talk Nats reports. Reyes was released by the Royals a week ago but has quickly latched on in another organization. The 27-year-old batted just .186/.231/.288 with a 36.9 percent strikeout rate during his time in Kansas City but figures to get another shot soon on a rebuilding Nats club.
