  • Ryan Weber: Becomes free agent
    By RotoWire

Weber (forearm) elected to become a free agent Monday. Weber was lifted from the Yankees' 40-man roster last week and is now out of the organization. He missed the last several months of the season with a forearm issue and it's not clear what his health situation is at the moment.

  • The Yankees placed Weber (forearm) on outright waivers Thursday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. Weber pitched well for New York after being called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in May, but his season came to an end in early June, when he was diagnosed with a right forearm strain. At last check, the 33-year-old was undergoing platelet-rich plasma treatment in an effort to avoid Tommy John surgery.

  • Weber (forearm) has opted for a platelet-rich injection and rehab in an attempt to avoid Tommy John surgery, per MLB.com. Weber has been on the shelf since feeling discomfort near his right forearm in an outing against the Dodgers on June 2. Season-ending Tommy John surgery remains a possibility, but the righty reliever is taking a conservative treatment approach with the hope that he can return to the big-league team before the end of the campaign. Weber is on the 60-day IL and can't be activated until early August, at the soonest, even if he responds well to the treatment.

    By RotoWire

The Yankees transferred Weber (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. The transaction removes Weber from the 40-man roster and opens up a spot for outfielder Billy McKinney, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of Wednesday's game versus the White Sox. As a result of the move to the 60-day IL, Weber won't be eligible for activation until early August while he works back from a right forearm strain.

The Yankees placed Weber on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right forearm strain. Weber has been one of the most reliable assets in the Yankees' bullpen since joining the team May 11, but his strained forearm will shut him down for at least 15 days. Nick Ramirez will come up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Weber's place in the bullpen.
