The Diamondbacks released Floro on Tuesday. Floro was removed from the 40-man roster Sunday and is now a free agent after passing through waivers unclaimed. • Diamondbacks' Dylan Floro: DFA'd by Arizona
    By RotoWire

The Diamondbacks designated Floro for assignment Sunday. The right-hander was acquired from the Nationals at the summer trade deadline, but he struggled to a 9.37 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB over 16.1 innings with the Diamondbacks. Floro could elect to become a free agent if he passes through waivers unclaimed, but he won't be eligible for the playoffs with a new team.

  • Floro was traded from the Nationals to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday in exchange for Andres Chaparro, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. The 33-year-old righty had a 2.06 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 40 strikeouts in 52.1 innings with the Nationals. While Floro has 32 career saves, he should assume a mid-leverage role with his new team.

  • Floro (3-3) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing a solo home run over 1.1 innings. He struck out one without walking a batter. The veteran right-hander got the final out of the seventh inning and worked a 1-2-3 eighth, but when manager Dave Martinez asked Floro to come back out for the ninth in a 3-3 tie, he served up a walk-off blast to Paul Goldschmidt. It's the first homer Floro has served up all year, and he's on track for one of the best seasons of his career with a 2.06 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 40:13 K:BB through 52.1 innings. That could earn the pending free agent a trade to a contender at the deadline, but if he stays put and Kyle Finnegan gets dealt instead, Floro might get a chance to close for Washington down the stretch.

    By RotoWire

Floro (2-1) gave up a hit in a scoreless sixth inning Friday to record the win over the Rockies. He didn't walk or strike out a batter. The 33-year-old righty continues to give the Nationals solid innings in a high-leverage role. Floro has been scored upon just twice in his last 12 appearances, posting a 2.70 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB through 10 innings over that stretch with three holds in addition to Friday's win.
