Martin signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training. Martin posted a .938 OPS with 32 homers at Triple-A Oklahoma City in the Dodgers organization in 2022 before spending 2023 playing in Korea. The 28-year-old outfielder has a career .588 OPS over parts of three major-league seasons, with his last action in the big leagues coming in 2021 with the Rangers. Martin will compete for a reserve outfielder role but will probably wind up at Triple-A Salt Lake.

Martin signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Tuesday, Chris Hilburn-Trenkle of Baseball America reports. Martin spent 2021 with the Rangers, appearing in 58 big-league games and hitting .208/.248/.354 with six homers, 17 RBI and 14 runs. He had more luck at Triple-A with a .931 OPS in 39 contests.

Martin elected free agency after he cleared outright waivers Saturday. Martin was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in mid-September, and he'll now become a free agent heading into the offseason. The 26-year-old appeared in 58 major-league games this year and slashed .208/.248/.354 with six home runs, 17 RBI, 14 runs and three stolen bases.

Martin was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. Martin lost out on playing time recently and was in the lineup for just one of the last six games. The 26-year-old was recalled in late July and hit .240 with five homers, three doubles, 13 RBI, 12 runs and a stolen base across 32 games. He should see more consistent at-bats in the minors, while his demotion will help make room for Willie Calhoun (forearm), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Martin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. Martin started in left field in each of the past three games, going 3-for-12 with two RBI over that stretch. The lefty-hitting Martin will take a seat Wednesday against a right-hander (Anthony DeSclafani), leaving DJ Peters, Leody Taveras and Adolis Garcia to fill out the outfield from left to right. The Rangers seem committed to giving Taveras and Peters long looks in everyday roles down the stretch, so Martin may have to settle for fourth-outfielder duties in September.
