The Tigers released Fry (elbow) on Thursday. Left elbow inflammation has kept Fry sidelined since late April, but the 29-year-old southpaw had been solid out of the bullpen in Triple-A Toledo prior to injury. Before allowing three runs in 1.1 innings during his most recent appearance, Fry held an impressive 2.08 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 12 strikeouts through 8.2 frames. Once healthy, Fry should be able to contribute to another organization's Triple-A bullpen.

Fry is currently sidelined at Triple-A Toledo with left elbow inflammation, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Fry is being evaluated and receiving "conservative" treatment, so it seems as if he'll probably be out a while. The lefty holds a 4.50 ERA over seven appearances with Toledo this season and hasn't pitched in the majors since 2021.

The Tigers reassigned Fry to minor-league camp Monday. Fry was one of several non-roster invitee relievers with prior MLB experience who received an extended look from the Tigers in spring training, but Trey Wingenter and Chasen Shreve were the top standouts among that group of hurlers during Grapefruit League play and appear to have secured their spots in the Opening Day bullpen. Unless he and the Tigers agree to mutually part ways, Fry is expected to report to Triple-A Toledo to begin the season.

Detroit signed Fry to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to big-league spring training. Fry spent the back half of the 2022 campaign with Triple-A Lehigh Valley after signing with the Phillies in June, producing a bloated 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with 20 strikeouts over 16 innings in 18 appearances. The left-hander will now have a shot at cracking the Tigers' Opening Day roster if he can impress this spring.

Philadelphia signed Fry to a minor-league contract Sunday and assigned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He joined the Lehigh Valley roster as a replacement for Dillon Maples, who was released by the organization Friday. Fry was also cut loose Friday by the Nationals, who signed him to a minor-league deal in March. The 28-year-old lefty previously made 162 appearances in the majors with the White Sox across the past five seasons, but he failed to earn a call-up to Washington in 2022 after turning in a 3.77 ERA and 1.56 WHIP across 14.1 innings at Triple-A Rochester.
