  • Castillo was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. The right-hander already received a platelet-rich-plasma injection and hopes to be available after spending the 15-day minimum on the shelf. Even in a best-case scenario, Castillo will only be able to rejoin the Mariners for one or maybe two starts before the end of the regular season. Seattle is currently three games back of the final AL wild-card spot and is tied with two other teams, and the playoff positioning could affect how quickly the organization elects to bring Castillo back.

  • Castillo (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on his left hamstring on Monday in Seattle, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Castillo left Sunday's start against the Cardinals as a result of a left hamstring strain. He will now receive additional imaging on the leg to determine the severity of the injury. Manager Dan Wilson did not speculate if he believed that Castillo will be able to make his next scheduled start or not, but more information on Castillo's status will come Monday.

  • Castillo was removed from Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to a left hamstring strain, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports. The right-hander had a good chance to pick up a win Sunday as Seattle scored seven runs across the first two frames, but Castillo was lifted due to the hamstring injury after giving up two runs across three innings. The severity of the issue isn't known, and it's unclear if the 31-year-old will be able to make his next turn through the rotation next weekend versus the Rangers.

  • Castillo did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings. Castillo only allowed four hits but two of them went for home runs, one by Lawrence Butler in the first inning and another by Seth Brown in the fourth. Castillo has now allowed nine home runs over his last five starts, though Tuesday was his first time reaching seven innings since July 19 and his first quality start since Aug. 11. The 31-year-old righty is putting together another strong campaign, yet the Mariners are 14-15 in his starts, partially due to the fact that they've scored two runs or fewer in 11 of Castillo's outings. For the year, he owns a 3.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 172:46 K:BB in 172.1 innings and lines up to face the Cardinals in St. Louis over the weekend.

  • Castillo (11-12) picked up the win Wednesday, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings in a 6-2 victory over the Rays. He struck out four. The 31-year-old right-hander left the mound after 97 pitches (60 strikes) just short of his 18th quality start of the season, but it was still a respectable performance from Castillo. In eight starts since the All-Star break, he's posted a 3.94 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 51:11 K:BB through 48 innings. Castillo will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Oakland.
