Allen (thumb) was activated from the minor-league injured list Wednesday at High-A Dayton. Allen wound up missing nearly three full months after suffering a left thumb UCL sprain in the third game of the Midwest League season. The 20-year-old outfielder was selected 30th overall by the Reds in the 2021 MLB Draft and can now continue his ascent through their minor-league system.

Allen suffered a sprained UCL in his left thumb during a dive into first base Saturday while playing at High-A Dayton, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Allen was sidelined with an elbow injury during spring training and is now expected to miss the next several weeks due to the thumb injury. The outfielder went 1-for-9 with five strikeouts through his first three games with Dayton.

Allen (elbow) has appeared in each of High-A Dayton's first three games, going 1-for-9 with a run scored and five strikeouts. Allen exited a March 13 Cactus League game with a minor elbow injury, from which he was able to make a full recovery ahead of the minor-league season. The 20-year-old outfielder is expected to handle a near-everyday role at Dayton this season.

Reds manager David Bell said "all is well" regarding Allen's elbow injury, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Allen injured his elbow while making an error in center field during Monday's loss to the Brewers, though it seems to be nothing serious. The 20-year-old outfield prospect is currently hitting 2-for-5 this spring and will likely begin the season with High-A Dayton.

Allen was removed from Monday's Cactus League game versus the Brewers with an apparent injury, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Allen made an error in center field on a play in the seventh inning and apparently injured himself in the process. The young outfielder should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.
