The Twins selected Gonzalez's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday. Gonzalez worked his way up from High-A to Triple-A by the end of the 2025 season, slashing .329/.395/.513 with 15 homers, 66 RBI, 75 runs scored and eight stolen bases across 549 total plate appearances. The 21-year-old outfielder's breakout campaign will grant him protection from the Rule 5 Draft in the form of a 40-man roster spot, and he may be able to win a place on the Twins' Opening Day roster if he continues to hit well in spring training.

Gonzalez was promoted to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. Gonzalez began the season at High-A and was promoted after hitting .319 with five home runs and a .907 OPS in 34 games for Cedar Rapids. He then slashed .344/./429/.509 with four home runs in 55 games for Double-A Wichita. After missing extended time with a back injury last season, he's re-established himself as one of the better hitting prospects in the Twins organization.

Gonzalez has gone 6-for-22 (.273 average) with a 3:3 BB:K and one stolen base in six games since being promoted from High-A Cedar Rapids to Double-A Wichita on Monday. Gonzalez earned the bump up to Double-A after hitting .319 with five home runs and a .907 OPS in 34 games for Cedar Rapids. His numbers were a marked improvement from the .706 OPS he posted at the High-A level in 2024, when he was limited to just 76 games after missing extended time with a back injury. Now seemingly back to full health, Gonzalez is thriving again and looks to have re-established himself as one of the better hitting prospects in the Twins organization.
