  • Twins' Victor Caratini: Out of Twins' lineup

Caratini is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rangers.

The switch-hitting Caratini had drawn five straight starts at catcher against right-handed pitching, but he will begin Tuesday's festivities on the bench. Alex Jackson is drawing a second consecutive start behind the dish for the Twins.

  • Twins' Kaelen Culpepper: Goes on Triple-A IL with hip strain

Culpepper was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday with a left hip strain, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

Culpepper had seemed close to getting a promotion to the big leagues, but that will have to wait now that he's been shelved. The 23-year-old has put up a .273/.377/.498 batting line with 14 home runs and 15 steals over 61 games with St. Paul this season.

  • Twins' Cole Sands: Still dealing with forearm swelling

Sands underwent an MRI on Friday that showed healing in his injured forearm, though inflammation was still present, MLB.com reports.

The Twins placed Sands on the 15-day injured list May 2 due to what the team described as a mild right forearm strain, resulting in being shut down from throwing for a couple of weeks. He made enough progress to begin a minor-league rehab assignment June 2, only to be returned to Minnesota after his forearm bothered him during his lone appearance with Triple-A St. Paul. While Sands appears to have avoided any sort of major setback, but the Twins will once again have him pause his throwing program to allow the inflammation to dissipate. He now appears unlikely to return from the IL until at least early July.

  • Twins' Ricardo Olivar: Shelved with knee sprain

Triple-A St. Paul transferred Olivar from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on June 4 while he recovers from a right knee sprain, Twins writer Brandon Warne reports.

The Twins haven't ruled Olivar out for the season, but he'll be on the shelf through at least the end of July while he recovers from the knee injury. After posting a .978 OPS at Double-A Wichita to begin the campaign, Olivar was promoted to Triple-A on May 20 and had slashed .259/.259/.556 with two home runs, two doubles and one stolen base in seven games for St. Paul before spraining his knee.

  • Twins' Hendry Mendez: Shelved with shoulder impingement

Triple-A St. Paul placed Mendez on its 7-day injured list Saturday due to a left shoulder impingement, Theodore Tollefson of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

After opening the season at Double-A Wichita, Mendez earned a promotion to Triple-A in early May and has continued mashing, producing a .321/.431/.468 slash line with four home runs and three stolen bases in 130 plate appearances for St. Paul. Assuming Mendez is able to move past the shoulder issue quickly, he'll have a shot at making his MLB debut at some point in the second half of the season.

  • Twins' Alan Roden: Returns from Triple-A IL

Triple-A St. Paul reinstated Roden (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list Monday.

Roden is expected to play in Tuesday's series opener versus Omaha in what will be his first appearance for St. Paul since April 22. After being shut down due to torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, Roden was cleared to rejoin St. Paul after completing a rehab assignment over the past two weeks, during which he went 5-for-12 with a home run, two doubles and seven walks in five games between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Fort Myers.

  • Twins' Byron Buxton: Goes yard in win

Buxton went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-2 victory over the Rangers.

Buxton's hot stretch continued, as his solo homer in the sixth inning marked the 32-year-old's sixth long ball across his past nine appearances. It has been a superb season at the plate for the center fielder, as he's hitting .276/.335/.606 with 23 homers, 36 RBI, 48 runs and six stolen bases across 278 plate appearances. Of note, Buxton has dealt with some injuries this season, though none have necessitated a stint on the injured list, with him appearing in 62 of the Twins' 74 games.

  • Twins' Josh Bell: Blasts three-run homer in win

Bell went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 4-2 victory over the Rangers.

Bell came to the plate with two runners on and two outs in the first inning and proceeded to golf a three-run homer off MacKenzie Gore to give the Twins an early lead. With a single added in the sixth inning, it marked the switch hitter's second consecutive multi-hit effort and fourth of the month. A strong June has improved Bell's overall numbers, though they remain fairly lackluster at .236/.289/.380 with eight homers, 13 doubles, 43 RBI, 34 runs and a stolen base across 71 appearances.

  • Twins' Yoendrys Gomez: Secures seventh save

Gomez picked up the save in Monday's 4-2 win over the Rangers. He allowed no hits or walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings.

Gomez entered with a two-run lead and two outs in the eighth inning and went on to convert a four-out save on 15 pitches without issue. It marked the seventh save of the season for the 26-year-old, who has emerged as the Twins' top option at closer. Since being traded from the Rays on May 6, Gomez has posted a 1.53 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB with six saves across 17.2 innings.

  • Twins' Mike Paredes: Logs 4.2 innings in no-decision

Paredes did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on four hits, no walks and a hit batsman over 4.2 innings against the Rangers. He struck out two.

Paredes left with the Twins leading but fell one out shy of qualifying for the win. The right-hander generally did a solid job of keeping the Rangers' offense in check, though Joc Pederson got the better of him with a two-run shot in the third inning. Paredes has now made two starts and two relief appearances, with Monday's start representing his longest outing to date, though each of the four appearances has lasted at least three innings. Across 15 frames, the 25-year-old owns a 4.20 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB with the big-league club this season. If Minnesota opts to keep Paredes in the rotation and continue building up his workload, his next start lines up for Sunday against Arizona.

  • Twins' Tristan Gray: Idle against southpaw

Gray is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

The left-handed-hitting Gray will head to the bench while the Twins go up against a left-handed starter (MacKenzie Gore) for the second time in three games. Ryan Kreidler will step in at shortstop in place of Gray, who is batting just .176/.222/.353 in 19 plate appearances versus lefties this season.

  • Twins' Trevor Larnach: Sitting with lefty starting

Larnach is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

The left-handed-hitting Larnach will head to the bench while the Twins go up against a left-handed starter (MacKenzie Gore) for the second time in three games. Minnesota called up Kyler Fedko from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, and he'll step in as Larnach's replacement in left field for what will be his MLB debut.

  • Twins' Alex Jackson: Making start for resting Caratini

Jackson will start at catcher and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Rangers.

With top backstop Victor Caratini receiving a day off, Jackson will pick up his 10th start behind the plate since the Twins called him up from Triple-A St. Paul on May 19. Over 31 plate appearances with Minnesota, Jackson is batting .267 with one extra-base hit (a double), three runs, one RBI and a 0:11 BB:K.

  • Twins' Victor Caratini: Out of lineup Monday

Caratini is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Rangers.

Caratini will get a day off after clubbing his fourth home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Alex Jackson will start at catcher and bat ninth for the Twins on Monday.

  • Twins' Brooks Lee: Taking seat versus lefty

Lee is absent from the lineup for Monday's game versus the Rangers.

The left-handed-hitting Lee will grab a seat as the Rangers send southpaw MacKenzie Gore to the hill. Royce Lewis is getting a start at third base for the Twins in the series opener.

  • Twins' Kyler Fedko: Added to big-league roster

The Twins selected Fedko's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

It's a well-earned promotion for Fedko, who has slashed .286/.372/.578 with 15 home runs, nine stolen bases and a 26:53 BB:K over 58 games with St. Paul. The 26-year-old can play all three outfield spots and also has some experience at first and second base. The right-handed-hitting Fedko will likely see most of his playing time for the Twins against lefties, at least initially.

  • Twins' Kaelen Culpepper: Tending to glute injury

Culpepper exited early Saturday in Triple-A St. Paul's win over Toledo due to glute tightness, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The 23-year-old shortstop appears ready to make his big-league debut after having thus far produced a .273/.377/.498 slash line with 14 home runs and 15 steals over 61 games with St. Paul, but his first order of business will be recovering from the glute injury. Per Emily Waldon of Baseball America, the Twins don't view the issue as a major concern, as Culpepper is expected to avoid a stint on the 7-day injured list and return to the St. Paul lineup in 3-to-5 days.

  • Twins' Mike Paredes: Getting another start

Paredes will start Monday's game against the Rangers in Arlington, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Paredes made two long relief appearances for Minnesota before faring well in his abbreviated first major-league start last week in Detroit, striking out four over three innings of one-run ball. The 25-year-old had made seven starts and two relief appearances with Triple-A St. Paul this season, posting a 3.38 ERA and 33:8 K:BB over 34.2 innings. Paredes hasn't thrown more than 68 pitches in an appearance at any level this season, so he's unlikely to pitch deep into Monday's contest.
