  • Giants' Trevor Oaks: Added to 60-man pool
    By RotoWire

Oaks made the Giants' 60-man roster. He lost his spot on the 40-man roster this past offseason but will have a chance to offer bullpen depth in this condensed season. Oaks had a lost 2019 season due to a hip injury but has been adept at generating groundballs in the high levels of the minors in previous seasons.

Oaks cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Oaks isn't likely to play a significant role for the Giants this season.

The Giants claimed Oaks off waivers from the Royals on Tuesday. Oaks was designated for assignment by the Royals on Oct. 29 after missing all of 2019 with a hip injury, and he'll now report to San Francisco heading into 2020. The 26-year-old has been effective at Triple-A, recording a 3.23 ERA over 128.1 innings in 2018, but he struggled in his only major-league action, amassing a 7.24 ERA with a 10:6 K:BB in four appearances (two starts).

  • Oaks (hip) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and designated for assignment Tuesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports. Oaks underwent hip surgery in early March and was sidelined all season. He was able to pitch in the Arizona Fall League, allowing six earned runs in 12 innings, so it looks like he'll be good to go for the start of the 2020 season.
