  • Josh Taylor: Becomes free agent
    By RotoWire

Taylor elected free agency Wednesday. Taylor didn't pitch for the Royals at all in 2024 while dealing with a left biceps injury, although he began a rehab assignment in September and will presumably enter the offseason healthy. The lefty reliever holds a career 4.35 ERA and 155:53 K:BB over 120 innings covering parts of four major-league seasons.

  • Taylor (bicep) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday and made a one-inning appearance against Toledo, allowing one earned run on two hits and one walk. Taylor moved his rehab to Triple-A after he gave up one unearned run across three innings over his three appearances at Double-A Northwest Arkansas. The lefty reliever has been on the shelf all season while recovering from a left bicep nerve injury, but he looks poised to make his 2024 debut for the Royals at some point over the final two weeks of the campaign.

  • Royals' Josh Taylor: Beginning assignment
    By RotoWire

Taylor (biceps) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Saturday. Taylor recently began throwing bullpen sessions after missing the entire season due to a nerve injury in his left biceps, and he's now been given the green light to return to a game setting. He'll likely require a handful of rehab outings given the amount of time he's spent on the IL, though the Royals remain confident the 31-year-old lefty will return to their bullpen before the end of the year.

  • Taylor (bicep) resumed a normal throwing progression in July and appears close to beginning live bullpen sessions, MLB.com reports. Taylor has been on the injured list all season due to left bicep soreness, an injury that cropped up while he was warming up for a March 17 Cactus League appearance. The lefty was later diagnosed with a musculocutaneous nerve injury that kept him from throwing for about four months, but he seems to have avoided any setbacks since he resumed playing catch. The Royals are still optimistic that Taylor can return from the IL before the end of the season, but he'll likely need to start facing hitters within the next week or two for that to be a reality.

  • Taylor (biceps) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday. Taylor will now be forced to be out of action until at least late May as he recovers from a left biceps injury. The move was made in correspondence with the Royals' acquisition of right-handed reliever from the Pirates on Sunday.
