  • Braves' Zack Short: Outrighted to Triple-A
    By RotoWire

Short cleared waivers Saturday and was sent outright to Triple-A Gwinnett. Short was dropped from Atlanta's 40-man roster Thursday after he put up a .517 OPS through 69 plate appearances with the big-league squad. The 29-year-old has already switched teams twice this year after being DFA'd by the Mets and Red Sox, but he will remain within the organization this time around.

  • Atlanta designated Short for assignment Thursday. Short's opportunities in Atlanta were few and far between, and he did little with what he was given, producing just a .478 OPS in 29 games. It's possible that the 29-year-old will draw some interest on waivers due to his defensive versatility.

  • Short is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres. Short picked up three consecutive starts at shortstop to begin July, but he hasn't returned to the lineup since with Orlando Arcia returning to action July 5 and avoiding a stint on the injured list due to an abscessed tooth. Expect Short's starting opportunities to be few and far between while Atlanta is at full strength in the infield.

  • Braves' Zack Short: In line for more work
    By RotoWire

Short went 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's loss to St. Louis. Orlando Arcia left the game in the sixth inning complaining of dizziness, and Short took over at shortstop and as the No. 9 hitter. It was his first game action since June 5, and with Arcia likely to get at least Tuesday's game off, the 29-year-old utility infielder should pick up his first start since May 25. Short's .150/.320/.200 slash line in 50 plate appearances since joining Atlanta suggests he won't be much more than a DFS punt play, however.

  • Braves' Zack Short: Returns to reserve role
    By RotoWire

Short remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. Short is on the bench for the third game in a row and has settled into a full-time reserve role after Austin Riley put an end to his to his two-week absence Monday. While Riley missed 13 consecutive games with a left intercostal strain, Short picked up 12 starts at third base during that stretch, with Luke Williams getting the other nod.
