  The Giants released Hildenberger on Thursday. Hildenberger was in the midst of his third season in the Giants organization after re-signing on a minor-league deal in February. After Hildenberger served up 12 runs (10 earned) in 5.2 innings over five relief appearances for Triple-A Sacramento, however, the Giants decided to cut ties with the right-hander. The 32-year-old last appeared in the majors in 2021, when he made two appearances for the Mets.

  Hildenberger was re-signed by the Giants on Monday to a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Hildenberger was limited to just six appearances in the minors last year with four of those coming with Triple-A Sacramento. The right-handed hurler has not pitched in the majors since 2021, when he made two appearances with the Mets. He provides some relief depth for the minors and isn't likely to be a factor for the Giants again in 2023.

  Hildenberger (undisclosed) was reinstated from Double-A Richmond's 60-day injured list Friday and was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento. Hildenberger, who had been sidelined all season before making one rehab appearance in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Aug. 5 and another at Single-A San Jose on Sept. 11, finally looks to be healthy again. He'll look to end the injury-plagued campaign on a high note at Triple-A with the hope of earning another minor-league deal with the Giants or another organization heading into 2023.

  Hildenberger (undisclosed) began a rehab assignment at Single-A San Jose last week and allowed two earned runs on two hits while striking out one in a one-inning appearance Sunday. Hildenberger has resided on Double-A Richmond's 60-day injured list all season with an unspecified injury. He initially began a rehab assignment in early August in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, but he was shut down for a month before starting up his assignment at Single-A. He could rejoin the Richmond bullpen over the final couple weeks of the season.
