The LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization signed Chirinos to a one-year, $1 million contract Tuesday, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports. Chirinos, 30, made six starts for the Marlins in 2024, putting up a 6.30 ERA and 25:13 K:BB over 30 innings. The right-hander will get a nice little salary bump as he gives the KBO a shot.

The Marlins outrighted Chirinos to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday. Chirinos was removed from the Marlins' 40-man roster earlier this week but will remain in the organization after passing through the waivers unclaimed. He'll provide rotation depth at Jacksonville.

The Marlins designated Chirinos for assignment Tuesday. The move comes one day after Chirinos was roughed up for five runs on nine hits and four walks over five innings in a loss to the Mets. He's held a 6.30 ERA over six starts for Miami this season and seems likely to clear waivers.

Chirinos (0-2) took the loss Monday against the Mets, allowing five earned runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out four in five innings. Chirinos was hoping to rebound after a brutal start his last time out in which he allowed three long balls and seven earned runs, but Monday's outing wasn't much better as the right-hander yielded two more home runs. The 30-year-old has failed to find his footing in 2024, logging a dismal 6.30 ERA and 1.87 WHIP with a 25:13 K:BB in 30 innings. The right-hander will not be a recommended fantasy option for his next start, currently scheduled for this weekend in Milwaukee.

Chirinos (0-1) took the loss Friday against the Reds, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out one. He served up three homers through the first three innings, including a Rece Hinds grand slam in the third. It's the first loss in five starts this year for Chirinos, but he hadn't allowed more than three runs in an outing prior to Friday. The 30-year-old right-hander's ERA is now up to 5.76 with a 1.72 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB across 25 innings. Despite those numbers, Chirinos is expected to remain in the Marlins' injury-ravaged rotation following the All-Star break.
