Doval earned the save in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox, allowing one unearned run in a hitless 11th inning. Called upon in the 11th inning to protect a three-run lead, Doval worked around an RBI groundout by Will Robertson but faced the minimum amount of hitters to lock down his 16th save of the season, and his first since being acquired by New York. The outing was another encouraging step (his fourth straight appearance without an earned run allowed) for the right-hander, who entered Saturday with a 5.23 ERA, 1.94 WHIP and two blown saves in two chances since joining the Yankees.

Doval allowed two hits and struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning against the Red Sox on Sunday. While the right-hander gave up a pair of hits -- a single and a double -- Sunday, he was able to escape without Boston putting any runs on the board. It wasn't the highest-leverage work (New York held a five-run lead when Doval entered), but it was nonetheless a relatively important situation with the Yankees needing to secure the win to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of their division rivals. As for Doval, he was sorely in need of a positive outing, as he came into the contest having been scored upon in four of his past five appearances. His adjustment to a new role with the Yankees hasn't gone smoothly -- through 10 contests with New York, he's posted a 6.48 ERA, 2.16 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB over 8.1 innings while blowing his only two save chances (though he does have three holds).

Doval (4-3) was charged with the loss and a blown save in Friday's 13-12 loss to the Marlins, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk with no strikeouts in one-third of an inning. Doval disappointed in his Yankees debut, taking his fifth blown save of the season. The hierarchy of New York's new-look bullpen following the acquisition of David Bednar is not entirely settled, though it's worth noting that Doval has struggled quite a bit recently and is seeing his fantasy stock drop. Since the start of June, the right-hander has a 5.64 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 28:16 K:BB across 22.1 innings.

Doval was traded from the Giants to the Yankees on Thursday in exchange for Jesus Rodriguez, Parks Harber and Trystan Vrieling, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. Doval had been the Giants' closer for the past couple months, but he hadn't recorded a save since July 11. Now that he joins a loaded Yankees bullpen, Doval will likely have to settle for opportunities in the seventh and eighth innings.

Doval allowed two earned runs on three hits while hitting one batter and striking out three across one inning in Friday's 8-1 defeat to the Mets. Doval entered the game in the ninth inning, hitting the first batter he faced before striking out the next two. However, the right-hander then surrendered a ground-rule double and threw a wild pitch, allowing a run to score before giving up an RBI single. The 28-year-old has made seven appearances this month, posting a 5.63 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB with two saves and one blown save across eight innings during that span.
