Rodriguez was designated for assignment Monday. Rodriguez was torched for eight runs over two innings in a relief appearance Sunday in Miami and will now move off Atlanta's 40-man roster and 28-man active rosters. Atlanta selected Rodriguez's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. The 31-year-old was outrighted to Triple-A in late July after he delivered a scoreless two-thirds of an inning during his lone appearance with Atlanta, but he'll receive another look in the majors down the stretch. Rodgriguez has pitched to a 6.45 ERA across 44.2 innings (23 appearances) at Gwinnett, so he's likely to have a low-leverage role while up in the big leagues.

Rodriguez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Atlanta jettisoned Rodriguez from their 40-man roster Monday, but he will stay in the organization. The right-hander has started and relieved during his time with Gwinnett in 2023.

Atlanta recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. With A.J. Minter (shoulder) landing on the 15-day injured list Saturday, Rodriguez will come up from the minors to take the open spot in Atlanta's bullpen. The 31-year-old righty holds a 5.79 ERA and 1.43 WHIP through 42 Triple-A innings this season, and he figures to serve as a depth piece while in the majors.
